STEPHEN HAWKING AND ISLAM

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Introduction

Note: The purpose of this publication is to show that you can never judge a person blindly. It is God who judges every man individually. As Muslims, we are obliged to challenge the atheists, such as Hawking, with the pens of knowledge and wisdom. But we should never reach a stage where we start to judge other human beings. We Muslims should be better than this judgemental mentality.

Stephen Hawking is without a doubt, a respected figure within the world of physics. Stephen Hawking wrote many books within the field of physics. He was a famous academician and contributed much to the world of science.

Muslims have reached a stage where they discuss the Iman (Faith) of Stephen Hawking, and how much he will be punished, rather than to think outside the box. We all know that Hawking was paralyzed from Head to toe and that he went through many physical hardships during his life.

Stephen Hawking and Islam

Many Muslims use the words of Muhammed Ibn Abdul Wahab (The revivalist of Salafism) who said : مَن لم يكفر المشركين أو شك في كفرهم أو صحح مذهبهم كفر بالإجماع،

“The one who doesn’t Declare the polytheists as disbelievers, or Doubts their Disbelief or justify their School of Thought, has become a disbeliever by consensus.”

The problem with Salafis, is that they themselves believe in a God with human attributes [God forbid], and that in itself is polytheism..

A Muslim should use the Mercy and the Justice of the Holy Qur’an, when he is discussing these issues.

In this time, Muslims are very judgmental in a disgusting way. The Muslim Parents are teaching their Children, to think in a way, where they are superior to others in an arrogant way. Little do they realize that they are making the same mistake, which was made by Bani Israel, The Nation of Israel. They also thought that they were the best of people, who were the only saved people of God. They saw themselves as the kings of the world. The Muslim communities have instilled this mindset, regardless of which sect they belong to or which ethnic background or social background they belong to. It is enough, that many, if not most of the Muslims around the world today, are not ready to marry off their daughter to a man who doesn’t share the same Social background, ethnicity, city, village or nationality as themselves.

Back to the discussion

Back to the discussion. The schools of thought such as the Mu’tazilites, Ibadhia, Khawarij and the Salafis, can have this rigid type of mentality. Members of these schools are prone to categorize everyone who doesn’t share the same opinions as deviants or even disbelievers.

In their eyes, people who don’t share the same opinions as they do, are doomed to Hell forever and ever without any exceptions for the person whatsoever. They even have the creed that many, if not most of the Muslims, will burn in hell forever, because of the not dying in a state of Tawbah (repentance).

Where is the verse about God’s Everlasting and Wide Mercy, which encompasses everything?

Where is the verse about God’s Everlasting and Wide Mercy, which encompasses everything?

Why have Muslims infused, instilled and indoctrinated a mindset which excludes everyone from the mercy of God except themselves?

It is as if they are greedy in their avarice, when it comes to Jannah (Paradise). They don’t want to see other Human beings succeed and enjoy the mercy of God. Rather, they want Humanity to suffer and to be placed in hell. This is the sadistic reality they have established within their creed and their dogma as deviant Muslims.

This mindset is very dangerous. This mindset takes the human being to the world of extremism and even to the world of terrorism.

Isn’t there a wisdom behind the mercy of God, when God begins to address the Humanity with “In the name of God, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful “.

Muslims have also forgotten that the Mercy of God exists within God’s essence. God blesses Humanity because God is the Most Merciful, and the root and the source of all mercy. Anger on the other Hand, is included within the actions of God, God’s Justice is shown because of an incident of for example injustice or oppression to God’s beloved creations and creatures. Al-‘Adl (The Most Just) is one of the beautiful names of God, but God would rather show Mercy than to punish a people with his anger that is expressed within his actions. Remember that God is Ever-Merciful to humanity:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Surely God is indeed Ever-Compassionate, Ever-Merciful to mankind. [2:143]

The tragedy of all tragedies

The tragedy of all tragedies is, that we have Muslims in the world today, even Muslim preachers, who are ready to go out and teach and preach to the public sphere, that “ the one who prays, but kills, rob and oppresses other human beings, is better than the one who doesn’t pray, but he doesn’t kill other human beings , rob other human beings or oppress other human beings”. ( source : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLCWHCgaJA8&t=4s )

But this logic, which we unfortunately have to cope with, is existing, and I can say this very clearly, that this mentality is intertwined with the mentality of ISIS and other terrorist organizations, which are beheading other human beings and which are slaughtering other human beings in the most barbaric ways as possible.

We even find many Muslims, especially the youngsters among the Muslims, who state that: “Yes, the members of ISIS, they are wrong in their actions, but still they are categorized as Muslims, but let’s call them Criminal Muslims “.

Little do they know! This mindset is going to create criminals worse than every type of a criminal you can find on this earth in the worst form as possible.

What kind of religion do you represent?

What kind of religion do you represent, when you are showing this harsh image of Islam to non-Muslims?

What kind of religion do you represent, when you show and portray a vision and an insight of God, being a God of Sadism and a God who loves to punish and torture humanity?

Can you please explain to me and to humanity, how this can be a logical mindset?!

The issue many Muslims dismiss

The issue many Muslims dismiss, is that Human beings are born in different geographical locations, raised up in different environments and are growing up within different potentials and abilities.

The Beauty of God, is that God is rewarding and showing his justice to mankind, in a way that befits their potentials and abilities:

وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولًا

And never do We punish any people until We send a Messenger (to make the Truth distinct from falsehood). {17:15}

Do you believe that you are showing a good and a true image of the religion of Islam, when you display such ignorance?

And today, Muslims are giving lectures and Khutbahs (Friday sermons) about the Iman of Stephen Hawking, how much he will be tortured by God and how much he will be punished. Which Logic are you using?

Do you believe that you are showing a good and a true image of the religion of Islam, when you display such ignorance?

I also saw a horrible YouTube comment under a video about Stephen Hawking’s disbelief. That person who wasn’t even a Muslim commented : “that’s why I will never become Muslim”.

This is the crucial point my dear brothers and sisters! Because this shows that the preacher from these schools of thought are only portraying a bitter image of the religion of Islam and a false image of the religion as well.

These people are there to pretend that they want to attract the masses to the religion. Do you think and do you believe with all of your senses, that a human being who follows the path of Yazid Ibn Muawiya and asks God to send his mercy on him, do you think this Human being will attract the masses to Islam, or that he will attract the masses to the religion of hate, violence and Nasibism (the creed of hating Ahlulbayt, Peace and blessings be upon them)?

Only the individual with a dark heart, will attract him or herself to this path which leads to hatred, aggression and terrorism, publicly or hypocritically.

The other statement, those schools of thought love to preach, is “Muslim brotherhood” or “Islamic brotherhood”.

I can say this very frankly to you, that the people who have helped me the most haven’t even been Muslims. The people who have helped the most in this life have been Non-Muslims. They have helped me more than the entire Islamic world together. So, I believe that the concept they are trying to portray, is a concept the Muslims really need to work on, with sincerity and without hypocrisy.

Is Not God the best of Judges?

Another crucial point is, that I am not trying to justify the points of Stephen Hawking, which he made against religion. Rather, what I am trying to convey is that God is the one who judges with his infinite wisdom. There are issues you should leave to God the Almighty alone:

أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ

Is Not God the best of Judges? {Surah 95:8}

I don’t know in which circumstances Stephen Hawking died in

I don’t know in which circumstances Stephen Hawking died in or in which circumstances his heart was in, but one thing is certain, and that is that God says in the Holy Qur’an, in Surah Al-Mulk, verse 13 :

إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

..He Knows well what lies in the Breasts (Hearts) {Surah Al-Mulk, verse 13}

The Egoism

We also find that Muslims are extremely greedy when it comes to their family and Paradise. Tribalism is still established within the mindsets of the Muslim Nation. They still have this saying in themselves that: “Just me and my family, or Just me and my tribe will attain Jannah”.

We still have this mindset among Muslims today, were they want to boast and take pride in how big their families, how notorious their families really are and how strong they are. The mindsets tell us a lot about how Muslims today are expressing their mentalities.

Of course, if Muslims, with their “superior cultures”, still are showing these sentiments of Islam to humanity, then don’t be surprised if Fox News and all of these dominating channels still are reporting and broadcasting this corrupt image of the religion of Islam, and instilling the mentality “ that Islam is bad” or “Islam promotes honour violence” . Never be the reason for the hatred which these people are spreading!

It is also going to lead to more corruption, especially when people can’t distinguish between Islam and Muslims.

It is very important for us Muslims, to not see the world in a black and white contrast. It is more flexible than this my dear brothers and sisters.

What do we then take from Stephen Hawking?

Stephen Hawking has done a lot for the world of psychics and he has contributed so much of his knowledge and his wisdom. What do we then take from Stephen Hawking?

We take the positive and constructive things he has contributed to the world (Imam Ali (as) said: ‘ Wisdom is the lost property of every believer; so seek it, even from the polytheist, for you are more entitled to it and worthy of it.’ [Bihar, vol.78, p.34.]) , and we as Muslims must answer back to Hawking’s arguments which he made against the existence of God. But we must respond back with truth, knowledge and wisdom!

Stephen Hawking helped the oppressed Palestinians

One positive aspect, I will never forget about Stephen Hawking, is that he helped the oppressed Palestinians during the attacks against Gaza 2009, and that he was a human being that had a philanthropic and a charitable stance in this world. We Muslims really need to be open minded enough, to see the charitable contributions he offered towards the Islamic world, with his generosity. I wish from the bottom of my heart that Hawking had at least an atom of faith in his heart, because it is the belief in God that makes the intentions good and the human actions qualitative. I really hope Hawking had enough humility to open his heart to God.

When Divine Justice is established

Yes! If the individual, has been conveyed the clear proofs of Islam, and he knows that Islam is the path of truth, but decides to cover the truth and to fight against the truth, just like the Meccans did against the Holy Prophet (S) when he conveyed the clearest of evidences to the Meccans, but due to their arrogance, they rejected the Message, proofs and evidences, and fought against the Prophet (S) and killed, slaughtered, buried human beings and babies alive, then of course, these types of people need the justice of God, in order for them to learn from their evilness and falsehood they were fighting for.

Otherwise, they are going to continue to cover the truth and fight against goodness forever and ever, because Kûfr doesn’t just mean to refuse to believe, but it also means to conceal, cover and hide the truth, while YOU know the truth, but you choose to conceal it :

الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَعْرِفُونَهُ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ ۖ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقًا مِنْهُمْ لَيَكْتُمُونَ الْحَقَّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

The people of the Book know this as they know their own sons; but some of them conceal the truth which they themselves know. {Surah Al-Baqarah : 146}

وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا الْحَقَّ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it] {Surah Al-Baqarah : 42}

And Kûfr is the distinction between a human being who is thankful and the one who isn’t :

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. {76:3}

And indeed, as we know, thankfulness is a crucial attribute within the human being, and thankfulness is a universal attribute, which is appreciated by all religions in the world.

The Majority live in ignorance..

I personally believe that the majority don’t have the true knowledge about the true version of Islam (The Islam of Ahlulbayt).

Especially the Non-Muslims, who deserve to learn more about our Holy Prophet (S) from the traditions of Ahlulbayt (as), and not from the traditions of the so called Salafis, who are the dominating sect in Social Media. Their accounts and channels are scattered everywhere, and they are spreading false information about Islam.

We all know which picture they are conveying to the world, and how many youngsters who are brain washed by this fraction of criminals and terrorists.

My conclusion is : Leave every matter and affair to God, He is the Judge, not you.

“And whoever acts hostilely to the Apostle after guidance has become manifest to him, and follows other than the way of the believers, We will turn him to that to which he has turned and make him enter Hell; and it is an evil resort.” (4:115)

And Peace and Blessings be upon the Holy Prophet (S) and His Progeny (A), And May God’s Peace be upon you all!
