THE KANTIAN RATIONALITY

THE KANTIAN RATIONALITY

There are many individuals today who see the reason as the core of the structure of religion today. There have always been various discussions around the intellect and rationality. One of the philosophers who discussed the reason was Immanuel Kant.

The intellect is undoubtedly a structure to success and freedom. When you prioritize your intellect, you know how to control your feelings, your anger, your emotions, your desires etc.

Kant suggests that much of what we consider to be reality is shaped by the perceiving mind. The mind, according to Kant, does not passively receive information provided by the senses. Rather, it actively shapes and makes sense of that information. Kant draws the idea that pure reason is capable of significant knowledge but rejects the idea that pure reason can tell us anything about things-in-themselves. Kant avoids the metaphysical speculations of the rationalists.

Kant provides clear boundaries for metaphysical speculation and maintains a sensible, empirical approach to our knowledge of the external world. Knowledge is something created by the mind by filtering sensations through our various mental faculties.

The important thing is that one can draw conclusions from intellectual and empirical sources. Otherwise, anyone can draw a conclusion and call it the truth. It is about combining empirical, ethical, moral, intellectual and logical sources all together to form a qualitative conclusion.

I personally think that one should study the intellect more than ever before. The reason is that many Muslims and non-Muslims today have not wanted to take the step to confront the intellectual challenges which today are relevant to all religious and non-religious individuals.

It is also important to study how other scholars, philosophers and thinkers look at rationality, morals and principles, so that one can study and compare the common moral and universal principles that connect humanity together, despite the different backgrounds and faiths.

We all know that lies, thefts and murders are negative traits of the actions of a human being. We also must study and see where the different moral principles come from and how the moral conclusion has been reached that x is a negative trait and that it leads to consequence of y etc.

In the past, God was the central and essential judge when it came to laws, morals, and principles. Today, man is the central figure when it comes to law-making and when it comes to the shaping of different laws and rules. This is, as I said, a summary of man’s transition from religion to secularism in political and legal aspects and dimensions.

This applies not only to non-religious people, but this also applies to religious people. Today, for example, you have Muslims, Christians, Jews and other religious people who are not willing to embrace the religion to a hundred percent. One chooses that which looks and sounds good and rejects that which looks and sounds bad for one’s personal ears.

We should also bear in mind that the core of understanding Kant is to look closer at his position on how he sees the reason. He himself thinks that one should not rely too much on oneself and on one’s intellect, when there is empirical and scientific evidence that can prove the opposite of one’s intellectual and rational conclusion.

It is very important to also see the fusion between the reason, science, empiricism and the religious texts when it comes to religion. One should see the interconnection between all these points, and not just read blindly. A reading of emptiness is something today’s human beings have become good at. We must be able to absorb everything with quality, understanding and creativity. There are many people today who believe that knowledge only comes from the outside, while we have a whole system within us that teaches us how to shape and form different ideas. The light is not just outside yourself. The Light is also within you.

Yes, knowledge comes from the outside, but it comes from the inside as well. When you receive information, you are not a robot that receives information and only preserves it within you. You as a human being can shape that information into different creative thoughts and ideas, which make you an innovative human being. This is how inventions have reached us in the world we live in, when a person knows how to combine the external and internal forces which shape and form a human being, when a human being chooses to become innovative and creative with his own free will and reason.
