In the Name of God, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful.

Imam Ali (as) said :

‏ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ طُوبَى لِمَنْ شَغَلَهُ عَيْبُهُ عَنْ عُيُوبِ النَّاس

O People! Blessed be the one whose own fault preoccupies him from finding faults in others.

[Nahj al-Balagha, pg. 255]

Today, we live in a world where it is pleasing to speak about other’s mistakes, imperfections and faults, rather than to focus on your own flaws. When you begin to focus on your own flaws, you begin to realise that every single human being has his own struggles which he struggles with.

It’s a sign of arrogance and pride, when a human being begins to focus on other’s mistakes and faults, and it’s a sign of humbleness and humility when a human being begins to focus on his own imperfections which he has to perfect and hone in order to travel to the world of human perfection even though we as ordinary human beings aren’t perfect nor infallible at all.

How is it possible for you to develop as a human being when you are focusing on other paths which are different from yours?

How can you perfect your imperfections when you are focusing on other’s imperfections?

Rather, we as human beings should help each other to perfect our mistakes, imperfections, faults and flaws. This is the way to build up a better society, world and a brighter future for humanity. Humanity is tired of the pointing fingers. The blessing lies in the heart that tries to hone and perfect its imperfections, because the heart can sometimes be filled with imperfections such as envy, anger, pride, arrogance, greed and ungratefulness, and by focusing on other’s mistakes, these negative traits will only increase.

By focusing on your own flaws, you begin to cultivate the seeds of humility, humbleness, wisdom and strength. The second step is to help other’s with their own imperfections, problems, struggles and hardships, and this is the true way of harmony and positive development which we need in order to get closer to God and to the world of goodness and purity!

Peace and Blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his Progeny (as)
